# Upgrade your plan

When you sign up for a [SendGrid account](https://signup.sendgrid.com/), you can start a 60-day free trial to explore the Email API and Marketing Campaigns features. During or after the trial period, you can upgrade your plan to meet your email sending needs.

## Free trial

During the 60-day free trial period, you can:

* Send up to 100 emails per day using the Email API.
* Send up to 100 marketing emails per day and store up to 100 contacts using Marketing Campaigns.

The free trial starts on the sign-up date. You can upgrade your plans for Email API or Marketing Campaigns during or after the trial period. After the 60-day period, you'll need to [upgrade your plans](#upgrade-your-plan) to continue sending emails or to access the **Marketing** tab in the dashboard.

The free trial is only available once. Upgrading your plan will immediately terminate the trial, and you can't restart it.

For more plan options, see [SendGrid pricing](https://sendgrid.com/pricing/).

## Before upgrading your plan

Before upgrading your plan, you must complete the verification steps to unlock your Twilio SendGrid account.

> \[!NOTE]
>
> If you signed up for a Twilio SendGrid account prior to September 17, 2020, skip to [Upgrade your plan](#upgrade-your-plan).

1. Set up [Two-Factor Authentication](/docs/sendgrid/ui/account-and-settings/two-factor-authentication/).
2. Set up [Domain Authentication](/docs/sendgrid/ui/account-and-settings/how-to-set-up-domain-authentication/).

Authenticating your domain shows email providers that Twilio SendGrid has your permission to send emails on your behalf.

   > \[!NOTE]
   >
   > If you don't have access to your domain's DNS records, you can **Send to a Coworker**. This feature allows you to enter a colleague's email address so Twilio SendGrid can send them all the information they need to complete domain authentication on your behalf.
