# Spam report

*Reputation*. A feedback mechanism that identifies electronic messages as abusing the transmission medium and reports them to an authority for remediation.

> If you discover that a Twilio customer sent spam, [report it to Twilio][spam-report]. Twilio bans their account immediately.

> US recipients can also file a report with the [US Federal Trade Commission](https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/).

In an email context, a recipient may report a [spam][] email message in one of a few ways:

* Clicking a **Report as Spam** button
* Moving the spam to a [spam folder][]
* Adding it to a [spam filter][]

If a recipient reports you for sending them spam, remove them from your contact list. To prevent any loss in your [email reputation][ers], most [email service providers (ESP)][esp] do so on your behalf.
